The Soup Is Human Stew
Barzer tells Elaris to investigate the goblin cauldron with Mage Hand, she does, and the pot answers — human bones, an eyeball, and finally an entire hand riding up on the ladle. The "soup" the party ignored all session is made of people, and Barzer names it: "stew-men."
Barzer has the good sense not to put a hand in the pot, and the better sense to tell someone else how to do it. Elaris takes the suggestion and investigates the goblin cauldron with Mage Hand instead of her own fingers.
Barzer reads the results first. "There's human bones in there," he reports, and then can't resist the pun: "It's stew-men."
Elaris keeps stirring anyway, and it keeps getting worse. An eyeball surfaces. Then the ladle comes up with an entire hand attached to it. The soup the party had been ignoring for most of the session turns out to be exactly what nobody wanted it to be. "I was really hoping it wasn't just soup this whole time."
